In October 2024, Walter “Sammy” Frioux and his wife D'Lisa proudly acquired David Funeral Home and its affiliated companies, marking the beginning of a new chapter with the formation of Frioux-David Funeral Home and Frioux Marble & Granite.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Sammy joined David Funeral Home in January 1997. His dedication and leadership led him to become Regional Manager of the David Funeral Homes locations in Vermilion and Lafayette Parishes in April 2006
.
By remaining local and family owned, the Frioux family is honored to carry forward a legacy of service that began nearly a century ago with the Berges family
A Legacy of Service Since 1937
- In 1937, Mr. George Berges founded Berges Funeral Home on St. Peter Street in New Iberia.
- In 1943, Mr. Dennis David joined the funeral profession, assisting Mr. Berges part-time.
- Following Mr. Berges’ passing in 1961, Mr. & Mrs. David acquired full ownership and continued the tradition.
- In 1964, a new facility was built at 1101 Trotter Street, and the name was changed to David Funeral Home.
- In 1994, Mr. & Mrs. David retired and relinquished ownership to their sons Danny J. David, Sr., Richard David, and Royal David but remained as consultants.
Over the years, the David family expanded their reach and commitment to the community:
- Acquired W.L. Landry Funeral Home in Jeanerette
- Established locations in Youngsville, Loreauville, and Lafayette
- Founded David Marble & Granite,
- Acquired Jacquemoud Funeral Home, Hebert Funeral Home of Abbeville, and Broussard Funeral Home of Erath
- In 2004, they purchased Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery, now one of the most beautiful final resting places in the region
