Yvonne Soileau Guillory

Broussard - On Friday December 11, 2020 Yvonne Guillory left to meet the Lord. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kyle White to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Evangeline Memorial Cemetery, Ville Platte, LA.

A native of Grand Prairie, LA, she was recently a resident at Camelot Assisted Living in Broussard, LA.

Family was first with Mom. From Dad, her son and subsequently her daughter in law Charissa, Grandkids, Colby and Jilian and great grandchildren, Violet, Emile and Azelie, it was always others before herself.

Mom’s life started on a farm in Grand Prairie, LA where she attended Grand Prairie elementary and high school. She graduated as Salutatorian of her class. She earned a scholarship to Southwestern Louisiana Institute but could not attend because of economic conditions.

Mom met and married Mayonce “Red” Guillory on September 4, 1943 while he was on leave from US Army. During WW II, Yvonne was employed as a welder at Higgins Shipyard in New Orleans, After Mayonce returned from his service, they settled in Ville Platte where they lived most of their life.

After adopting Tim in 1953, Yvonne stayed at home until 1960 when she attended T.H. Harris Vocational School. She studied accounting.  Upon completion of her studies, she was offered a job at the school where she filled several positions, retiring as a Senior Accountant in 1990.

From 1990 until 2012 Yvonne and Mayonce enjoyed retirement and family. Yvonne especially enjoyed being outside and caring for her many plants.

In August of 2012, Yvonne and Mayonce relocated to Camelot of Broussard Assisted living where she continued to live.

Yvonne is survived by her son, Tim of Youngsville, and his wife Charissa. Grandson, Colby who lives in Los Angeles, CA and granddaughter Jilian Guillory Sellers and husband Bryan of Youngsville.  Great grandchildren Violet of Los Angeles, Ca and Emile and Azelie Sellers of Youngsville.

Additionally, we would like to thank the ED and ICU staff at Ochsner LGMC especially Dr. Rosson, Kourtney and Sarah and the staff at Carpenter House.
