Wanda Romero French

New Iberia– A visitation will be conducted for Wanda Faye Romero French, age 72, on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.

Wanda French, 72, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and home-cooked meals that will forever be cherished. One of 16 children, Wanda devoted her life to raising her own family of six children, later becoming the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved immensely. Known as a world-class cook, she was most famous for her unforgettable chicken stew and sticky chicken, dishes that brought joy to countless gatherings. Wanda had a gift for bringing people together, especially during the holidays, when her home overflowed with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her kitchen. In her quieter moments, she found joy in tending to her garden, where she grew an array of vegetables and flowers, nurturing life with the same care she gave to her family. Her love, generosity, and unforgettable cooking will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Wanda R. French is survived by husband, Michael French; children; Patrick Tullier (Roxanne), Sean Tullier (Tracy), Angie Jones (Steven), Tammy Thibodeaux, Irving P. O’Brien (Dwan), Katherine Duke (Donald); siblings, Pearlie Romero, Melinda Taylor, Karen Trim, Reynold Romero, and Kevin Romero.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nichol J. Sr., and Gernice Stevens Romero; siblings, Shirley Stevens, Lou George, Jay Romero, Jacob Romero, Joyce Bourque, Debra August, Rodney Romero, Kirk Romero, Nell & Nelson Romero (Twins); grand-daughter, Kristen Claire Duke; sons-in-law, Christopher Thibodeaux, and Brenton Robertson.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Sean Tullier, Patrick Tullier, Logan Tullier, Sean Tullier, Jr., Trent Pellerin, and Irving P. O’Brien, Jr.
