Velma Jane Broussard

Lafayette-Memorial Services for Velma "Baudin" Broussard, 82, will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 6:00PM.

Visitation will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 5:00PM until time of services.

Velma Jane Broussard departed this life on Saturday December 6th 2025, at her son Jamie's house in the “little Cabon" as she called it in Maurice. She was born September 27, 1943, in Youngsville to Valerie Trahan Broussard and Joseph B. Broussard. She was of the Catholic faith and a friend to all animals big and small. She was preceded in death by her parents and 22 older siblings, 8 brothers; Dennis "Tanas" Broussard, Wilfred "Coach" Broussard, Adam “Willis” Broussard, Roy Broussard, Eugene Broussard, Antoine Broussard, Elton Broussard, and Lawless Broussard, 8 sisters, Nolia Broussard, Naomi Dartez, Leonie Vicknair, Euginie "Jean" Jambon, Benita Vincent, Inez Duhon, Laurence Romero, Helen "Toot" Hebert, 5 infant siblings and many nieces and nephews. 

Survivors include her 2 sons, James "Jamie" Broussard and wife Christina of Maurice , David W. Broussard of Cade , 3 grandsons, James "JJ" Broussard and wife Jordan of Russellville, Arkansas; Joshua Michael Broussard and Joseph "JoJo" Broussard of Maurice, one grandaughter, Cynthia Zepeda and husband Jayce Lombas, and 2 great grandchildren, Parker and Bentley of Russellville, Arkansas and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. 

A special thanks to her great niece, Nicole Broussard, for those 5:30 am coffee and cigarette get togethers.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana for being there for moms and our time of need. 

Mom lived her life the way she wanted till the end. She said over and over that the job she loved most of all was at The Zoo in Broussard (Zoosiana). Donations may be made in her name to Zoosiana of Broussard at Zoosiana.com
