Jeanerette–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Van B. Williams, age 94, Thursday, June 25, 2026, 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist with Fr. Keith Landry as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at a later date.
A native of Farmerville, LA. and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Williams died Saturday June 20, 2026. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette. Bruce, as he was commonly known, spent most of his working life in the pipeline industry. That required him to travel extensively across the country as well as overseas, making many friends and acquaintances along the way. He enjoyed hunting but absolutely loved to fish. Enjoying retirement meant spending as much time as possible on the waters of Lake Darbonne near his birthplace in Farmerville, LA. or along the lakes and bayous around his home in Jeanerette.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Stringer of Jeanerette; three sons, Van B. Williams, Jr. and wife Patty of Thibodaux, James Williams and wife Vivian and Ken Williams, all of West Monroe; one daughter, Trudy Williams of Thibodaux; one sister, Judy Read and husband Stanley of Farmerville, LA; 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; one stepson, Chad Trammell and wife Ruthie of Franklin; three stepdaughters, Josette T. Sonnier of Jeanerette, DeAnna Kirby and husband Steven, Kayla Hommel and husband Justin all of Stringer, MS; 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Burl and Ola V. Williams; two brothers, Malcolm and Jimmy Wayne Williams; 2 daughters, Karen Carnahan and Lynda Luke.
