Stephen Ray Davidson

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Stephen Ray Davidson, 79, will be held at 1:00PM Monday, August 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until 10:00PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home of Lafayette with a recitation of the rosary at 5:00PM. Visitation will resume at 9:00AM on Monday, August 24, 2026, until the time of Service. 

Stephen was a devoted outdoorsman who spent every weekend from September through January doing what he loved most — hunting. A proud graduate of Berwick High School, he went on to earn his degree in industrial engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana. 

In April 1969, Stephen married the love of his life, Jacklyn, beginning a partnership filled with devotion and shared joy. Stephen built a long and accomplished career, working for Brown &Root, ETPM, a French company, and Kerr-McGee. His work took him far from home, living in London for three years, and included assisting in the construction of an oil rig in the North Sea, an experience he carried with pride throughout his life. 

After retiring with Kerr McGee, Steve opened his own business. He worked as a consultant for a few years, then decided he would close Davidson Management. Stephen will be remembered for his steady nature, his dedication to his work, and the deep love he held for his family, friends and the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacklyn Vidos Davidson; two brothers, Warren Henry Davidson and his wife Andre, Glen Michael Davidson and his wife Michelle; two nephews, Jason Davidson and Toby Grandin; and four nieces, Shelley Strickland and her husband Ray, Hannah Davidson, Rene’ White and Robyn Landry who was more like a daughter to him. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Doreen Stephens Davidson; a son, Scott Joseph Davidson; and a brother, Troy Andrew Davidson. 

Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Jason Davidson, John Davidson, Ray Strickland, Scott Huff, John Woollen, and Ted Lege.
