Shirley T. Darby

New Iberia – Funeral services for Shirley Trahan Darby, 88, will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home of New Iberia with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5:00PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, until 9:00PM, and will resume at 8:00AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, until the time of service. A recitation of the rosary will take place at 6:00PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

A native of Erath and a resident of New Iberia, Shirley Trahan Darby passed away at 1:35PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Shirley was a simple lady who found joy in life’s everyday pleasures. She enjoyed watching game shows and baseball, spending time shopping, and never missed the opportunity to have her hair done. She also appreciated relaxing with a cold Budweiser and the company of family. Her easygoing nature and love for the simple joys in life will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Chris Darby and his wife Stacey, of Lydia; her grandchildren, Katrina Darby Kilgore and her husband Judson, Kallam Darby and his wife Tabitha, Kayla Darby, Trent Comeaux, Trevor Comeaux and his wife Jennifer; her siblings, Lou Jean Derouen of New Iberia, Elfreda Romero of Erath; and fourteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of almost fifty years, Floyd Darby; her parents, Maximilian and Dorothy Domingue Trahan; her son, Blane Comeaux; her grandson, Trey Comeaux.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chris Darby, Kayla Darby, Kallam Darby, Gabriel Darby, Trevor Comeaux, and Troy Fruge.

Frioux Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 337-369-6336, will be handling the arrangements.
