Ruby Mae Degetaire

Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruby Mae Degetaire, 80, will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Monsignor DeBlanc officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:30AM until the time of service on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home of Jeanerette with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group.

Ruby spent over 50 years working in retail, where her dedication, strong work ethic, and friendly nature left a lasting impression on those around her.

She enjoyed embroidering, painting, drawing, and coloring. She took pride in the simple act of making something beautiful.

She found happiness being with her family and friends, whom she loved deeply.

Most importantly, as a humble and faithful servant, Ruby’s faith was the foundation for her life. She found lasting comfort, strength, and peace in praying the Rosary. She carried that faith with her, sharing kindness, compassion, and love with those around her.

She is survived by a sister, Claire Dunlap and her husband Bill; a brother, Steven Degetaire and his wife Hilda; four nephews, Corey Degetaire and his wife Heather, Scott Guidry and his wife Renee, Kevin Guidry, and Michael Dunlap; a niece, Erika Farfan and her husband Diego; four great-nieces, Lily Degetaire, Sydney Guidry, Kate Guidry, and Sunansa Likhonburi; two great-nephews, Dylan Degetaire and Abram Verret; and a wife of her late nephew, Narinya Degetaire.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Honore and Carrie Broussard Degetaire; a brother, John Wayne Degetaire; a nephew, Robin Degetaire; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Degetaire.

Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Corey Degetaire, Dylan Degetaire, Diego Farfan, Kevin Guidry, Scott Guidry, and Ryan Kimball.

Frioux Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost Street, 337-276-5151, will be in charge of the services.
