Roy Joseph Cunningham

New Iberia –A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Roy Joseph Cunningham, 91, on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2:00PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Keith Landry officiating. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 10:00AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 12:30PM.

A native of Houma, LA and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Roy passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 7:43AM at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Roy enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and singing. He enjoyed being with his family most of all.

He is survived by his daughters; Toni Cunningham Duplantis of New Iberia, Carol Cunningham Segura of New Iberia, Cheryl Cunningham Temple and her husband Floyd of New Iberia, and Lori Cunningham Lewis and her husband William Lewis of Navarre, FL; a son, Ernest Cunningham and his significant other Ellen Beck of Broussard; seven grandchildren, Janet Duplantis, Kelly Roy Segura and wife Shannon, John Temple and wife Paige, Stacy Temple Reale and husband Erik, Krystal Allegro and husband Anthony, Kristin Rogers and her husband Justin, and Keith Nelson; fifteen great grandchildren, and a sister; Iona Rogers of Lockport, LA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Martin Cunningham; his parents Ernest and Bessie Authement Cunningham, a son, Roy Cunningham Jr.; a son-in-law, Larry Segura; four sisters, Beulah Moore, Miriam Toups, Joyce Colletti and Elnora “Faye” Borel, and one brother, Ray Cunningham.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Austin Prince, Kelly Segura, Keith Nelson, John Temple, Dylan Dore and Brad Martin.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernest Cunningham, James Floyd Temple, William Lewis, John Rogers and Craig Rogers.
