Roscoe D. Conway, Sr.

Abbeville – A Celebration of Life for Roscoe D. Conway, Sr., 75, will be held at 1:30PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Frioux Funeral Chapel of Abbeville with Pastor Cody Bryant officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.

A native of Beaufort, NC and a resident of Abbeville, Mr. Conway died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his residence.

It is hard to condense the measure of a man as amazing as Roscoe to a single paragraph. He was such a huge presence to so many people. A man of God who walked daily in faith and with integrity. He was a loving husband and a devoted Father. A man who loved his family and spending time with them was a favorite pastime. He adored his wife Polly, his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren, who fondly called him “Poppy” always finding time to spend with them daily. He was a Hero to many and a shining example of what being a good Christian and person is. He was an active member of The Abbeville Pentecostal Church. He worshiped the Lord with all of his heart and self. Always willing to help anyone in need without expectation of a reward. Also, an avid hunter and longtime member of The Sunset Hunting. He is a man full of Love and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A a mechanic, he worked for many years at Owen’s Corning in the home state of North Carolina and for Omega Protein in Louisiana.

Preceding him in death his wife of 56 years, Frances Pauline Holland Conway; and his parents, Roscoe M. Conway and Gillie Barefoot Conway.

Survived by his children: David Alan Conway, Sr., Roscoe David Conway, Jr. “Buddy” and Tabitha Lynn Conway, Melissa Stanley (future wife of David Sr.) Siblings: Oran Conway, Brenda Bibens, Rosa Smallwood (deceased), Robert Conway, Virginia Domina, Angela Hunter and Larry Conway Grandchildren: David Conway, Jr., Ashley Conway (wife to David Jr.), and Kaylee Conway Great Grandchildren: Benjamin Conway (preceded in death), Marley Conway, Gabrielle Conway and Rebekah Conway.
