Jeanerette – A Graveside Service for Mr. Rodney James Lafont, Jr., 51, will be held at 1:00PM, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. John Mausoleum in Jeanerette.
Mr. Rodney James Lafont, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish his memory and the joy he brought into their lives. Rodney was a man whose happiness was contagious and whose love for life was evident to everyone who knew him. Rodney had a deep love for rock music, a passion he proudly inherited from his father. He had an incredible ear for songs and could name nearly 95% of the tracks played on 98.1 radio station. His favorite band was Guns N’ Roses, and he knew every word to “Welcome to the Jungle,” singing it with enthusiasm and pride whenever he had the chance. Music was more than entertainment to Rodney—it was a connection to family, memories, and joy. He treasured casino trips with his family, always knowing exactly how to make the most of his $5.00. Somehow, luck seemed to follow him, and whether he won or lost, he always walked away smiling, simply happy to share the experience. Rodney was also known for being a great counter—carefully counting his pennies, which somehow always seemed to total $10.00, a detail that brought laughter and admiration from those around him. Rodney loved food of every kind and was never shy about enjoying a good meal. He especially loved spending time outdoors with his family, with fishing trips holding a special place in his heart. Being outside, surrounded by nature and the people he loved most, brought him true happiness. Above all, Rodney loved people. He was always cheerful, always ready with a smile, and always eager to be part of whatever was happening around him. His warmth, innocence, and genuine spirit touched many lives. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Rodney James Lafont, Jr. is survived by his father, Rodney James Lafont, Sr.; his step-mother, Vanessa Bergeron Lafont; two brothers, Ryan Lafont and his wife Ashley, and Jared Dorsey and his wife Ashley; two nephews, Skylar Lafont and Ramsey Lafont; one niece, Linden Dorsey, and one great-nephew, Carter Lafont.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Joshlyn Leblanc Lafont.
Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost Street, will be handling the arrangements. (337) 276-5151
