Mr. Robert Drew Emert, lovingly known to friends and family as "Rob," was a soldier at heart, a patriot devoted to his country, and a man who believed deeply in freedom for all people. His life was a testament to service, loyalty, and quiet strength. Rob began his distinguished military career in the United States Marine Corps and later continued his service in the U.S. Army, where he remained until his retirement. Throughout his 30 years of military service, Rob earned the respect and admiration of his comrades: who affectionately nicknamed him "Radar," a nod to both his notably large ears and his expertise in communications. He was highly skilled in protecting against and responding to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, serving his country with honor and precision across many deployments, including Iraq and during Desert Storm, as well as stateside at Fort Hood. Over the course of his career, Rob received numerous commendations recognizing his dedication and excellence, including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device. Outside of his military service, Rob dedicated over 40 years to his civilian career with Domino's, where his work ethic and steady presence left a lasting impression. Yet, his greatest pride always came from serving the people of the United States. Rob may not have had a large family, but the love and impact he shared ran deep. His nephew, Brian, held a special place in his heart. Rob never failed to bring back military merchandise from training or souvenirs from his deployments, a small gesture that reflected his thoughtfulness and the joy he found in sharing his experiences with loved ones. A member of Acadiana Church of Christ, Rob carried his faith with humility and strength. He was a true soldier in every sense of the word: steadfast, disciplined, and uncomplaining. His life stands as a quiet but powerful example of service and devotion, both to his nation and to those fortunate to have known him. Rob will be remembered for his steadfast commitment, his heart for service, his sense of humor, and his ability to use his ears as a "Radar." Though he is gone, his legacy of honor and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
