JEANERETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1510 Church St. Jeanerette, Louisiana for Rita Ann Rogers, 87, who died peacefully on Sunday July 20th, 2025, at Avanti Senior Living in Youngsville, LA.
The family requests that the visitation be observed at Frioux-David Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00am. Interment will take place at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Rita’s great nephew, the Rev. Alex Lancon, of Franklin, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Lectors for the celebration of the Eucharist will be Ginger Thibeaux Doucet and Lorraine “Lolo” Robichaux. Gift bearers will be Rita’s great nieces and nephews.
Miss Rogers, daughter of the late Kirby Séraphin Rogers and the former Marguerite Louise Minvielle, was born on August 10 th , 1937, and reared in Jeanerette, LA. Rita was the fifth of twelve children, a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Jeanerette and a 1959 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, LA with a B.A. in Lower Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at St. Joseph’s Elementary School followed by Canal Street Elementary School, both in Jeanerette. Rita was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend; her dedication to her family was evident in many ways.
Survivors include her brother: Roland “Boo” Rogers, of Jeanerette; her brother-in-law: David Luke of Milton: her two sisters-in-law: Margaret Rogers and Lynn Rogers.
She is preceded in death by her four sisters: Mary Thibeaux, and her husband Ben, Jane Boudreaux, and her husband Morris, Ellen “Turtle” Rogers, and Suzanne “Suzie” Luke; her five brothers: Kirby Rogers, Jr., John Rogers, Michael Rogers, Frank Rogers, Robert Rogers and Rev. Peter Rogers, S.J.; her niece, Marguerite “Totsie” Ellen Thibeaux and her nephew, David Earl Luke, Jr. and great niece Rosemary Louise Bernard.
Rita was a beautiful role model for her many nieces, nephews, students and friends as they witnessed her sweetness and enjoyment of life as well as her goodness to those in need. In this, she expressed her beautiful Catholic faith.
Pallbearers will be Steven Luke, Ben Thibeaux, Jr., Beau McKay, Doug Robichaux, Michael Rogers, Jr., and David Thibeaux.
