Rhonda "Ohnie" L. Martin

Jeanerette–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Rhonda “Ohnie” L. Martin, age 69, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Alexander Albert as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre’ Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Rhonda L. Martin passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Consolata Nursing Facility in New Iberia.

Rhonda was a lifelong resident of Jeanerette and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rhonda found joy in the simple pleasures of life and was devoted to the relationships she had with family, friends, the children in her daycare, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Reading and writing was her passion. She often spent hours reading and studying scripture so she could strengthen her relationship with her Heavenly Father. She cherished the prayer time that she spent with her friends at Consolata Nursing Home, and looked forward to reciting the rosary with them daily.

When she was not reading scripture, she was immersed in a good mystery novel or a science fiction thriller. Rhonda loved family holidays and get togethers so she could spend time with people she cherished most in life. She was a person of simple, unassuming grace who was loved by all who knew her.

Her nieces, nephews, and the children in her daycare affectionately gave her the nickname “Ohnie”, which she was lovingly called throughout her lifetime. She loved to sit in her yard and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. She loved the beauty and aroma of fresh flowers and often adorned her home with them.

Rhonda is survived by her father, Ronald John Martin (Gale); her two brothers, Glenn Martin, Mark Martin; her sister, Linda Freeman; nieces and nephews, Ashley Landry, Cherami Laliberte, Dominic Martin, Garret Martin, Sage Martin, Josh Freeman, Kati Martin, Noel Martin, and many great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mathilde Dooley Martin, and nephew, Zachary Freeman.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Dominic Martin, Garrett Martin, Sage Martin, Josh Freeman, Slade Landry, and Zachary Landry.

Honored to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Hebert, Ryder Martin, Noah Landry, Ray Concienne, Jack Martin, and Mario Martin.
