Known as “Poogie” to all who knew her, Rena was a most loving and generous soul. She was a great daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. After the children were of school age, Rena became a seamstress for Fruit of the Loom and remained there for over twenty years. After retirement, Rena became the caregiver for her aging parents, Poppa Day and Maw Maw Rena, and her oldest brother, Jerry.
In her spare time, Rena enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening and dancing to music, and feeding people, she was a fabulous cook. After a back injury, her most recent years were spent at Iberia Manor South Nursing Home.
She is survived by a son, Richard Picard, Jr.; two daughters, Bonny Picard and her husband John, and Rachel Buteau and her significant other Chelsey Theriot; six step- children, Anthony “Butch” Buteau, Homer “Peter” Buteau, Bradley Buteau, Camay Buteau, Pam Frederick, and Tina Haydel; six grandchildren, Richard Picard III, Jacob Picard, Schade Picard, Melissa Belanger, David Belanger, and Tiffany Belanger; eight great-grandchildren, Jamison Smith, Savanah Heert, Huey “Bubba” Hebert, Glennward Smith, Calise Touchet, Kyle Mire, David Belanger, Jr., and Mason Belanger; a grand puppy, Charlie; and a grand Lizard Uro.
