Reid Philip Primeaux, affectionately known as “Pooh Bear,” passed away peacefully in New Orleans on July 15, 2025, after five courageous months filled with hope, love, and a fight to make it home. Born on February 6, 2025, weighing 3 pounds 9 ounces, Reid was loved from the very first moment his parents learned of him. Though his time on Earth was short, his impact was immeasurable. Reid's journey brought together not only his family and friends but also an entire community of supporters, caregivers, and strangers united in prayer and faith. Through every challenge, Reid's strength shone brightly; his stubborn, resilient spirit a reflection of his mother’s. He taught all who knew him what it meant to persevere and to love deeply, even in the hardest of moments. To his nurses and doctors, Reid was affectionately known as their little Pooh Bear—a fighter who never stopped pushing forward. He stole their hearts and left a lasting imprint, one tiny footprint at a time. Reid loved hearing his bedtime stories and especially cherished the sound of his sister’s voice reading to him. He would stir awake at her every word. His family treasures memories of his first outdoor adventure, his first bath, his soft brown hair, his kissable cheeks, and his precious little toes. Through Reid, his family was drawn closer to God, finding strength in their faith and comfort in knowing that even in pain, God’s presence never left them. Reid was truly a servant of the Lord, and now rests in Jesus’ lap, waiting to be reunited with the ones who love him most.
Reid is survived by his loving parents, Brad Nicholas Primeaux and Taylor Marie Carter; his adoring siblings, Kendyll, Vera, Liam, Talia and Gia; his Memzie, Casey St. Marie; his Grandpa, Jimmy St. Marie; his Gammy, Sharon Primeaux; his Grampy, Todd Primeaux; his Godparents, Angel Hebert and Quinn Primeaux; his extended family; and a vast circle of friends, healthcare heroes, and prayer warriors who carried him in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Fran Menard; his great-grandfather, Paul Dale Leblanc; his great-great-grandmother, Joyce Romero; and his cousin, Shawn Touchard.
