He was a man who found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful; the smell of freshly cut grass, the satisfaction of hard work, and the comfort of having his family all together. Whether he was doing yard work, building something with his hands as a skilled carpenter, or taking a ride in his truck, he carried himself with quiet strength and purpose. A true “man’s man,” he was known for being stern, strong-willed, and mainly quiet, yet his love for his family ran deep. He showed that love in his own special ways, especially during family gatherings, where he enjoyed picking on the younger kids and grandkids just to hear them laugh. Those moments became memories his family will treasure forever. He loved football and rarely missed cheering on the New Orleans Saints, LSU, and ULL. He also enjoyed watching Monday Night Raw wrestling and could always appreciate a good game, a good match, and good company. At home, he found happiness in the little routines that made life his own; collecting hats and caps, many proudly displayed on his wall while countless others filled boxes throughout the house. His home and heart were always open, especially for his beloved grand-pups, who lovingly attended what the family called “Pawpaw Day Care.” He had a gift for cooking and took pride in feeding the people he loved, especially when gumbo was on the menu. Sharing a meal with family was one of the ways he brought everyone together. Though he may not have always spoken many words, his actions spoke volumes. He loved fully, worked hard, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His strength, humor, and love for family will continue to live on in the stories, traditions, and memories shared by those he loved most.
