New Iberia – Funeral Services for Otto Girouard, Jr., 89, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia with Deacon Tim Marcantel officiating.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:00AM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia.

Otto Girouard was a devoted father, cherished grandfather, proud veteran, and respected member of the law enforcement community.

Born and raised in Loreauville, LA, Otto dedicated his life to serving others—with unwavering commitment, discipline, and integrity. His distinguished career in law enforcement spanned decades, culminating in his retirement as Executive Lieutenant with the Louisiana State Police. He then became Deputy with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office. and also served his community elected as the Police Chief of Loreauville.

A proud veteran, Otto served his nation honorably in the United States Army, instilling in him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism. He was a graduate of the National Traffic Institute in both Chicago, Illinois, and Lafayette, Louisiana, where he honed his expertise in traffic safety and enforcement.

Otto shared his knowledge and experience as an instructor at The Police Training Academy, contributing to the education of countless officers both within Iberia Parish and across the state of Louisiana.

He was an avid boxer in high school, winning twice state champion in his weight class.

Beyond his career, Otto was a passionate gun enthusiast and a decorated pistol sharpshooter, earning numerous awards for his marksmanship.

Above all, Otto was a loving father and grandfather, who took immense pride in his family. His legacy of service, strength, and compassion lives on in those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Marilyn Landry Girouard; a son, Ross Girouard and partner Lynl Champagne; a daughter, Melanie Girouard; a grandson, Cole Girouard; a grand-dog Sweet; a sister-in-law, Rita Girouard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Laurence Terradot Girouard, Sr.; and a brother, Gerald Girouard.

Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 337-369-6336, will be handling the arrangements.
