With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Ondina — a one-of-a-kind woman whose strength, generosity, and boundless love left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
A devout Catholic, Ondina lived her faith every day, beginning each morning with the rosary and carrying a quiet strength rooted in prayer and service. For 24 years, she safely carried generations of children as a dedicated school bus driver, rising before the sun and never missing a route, no matter the weather.
Ondina was no stranger to hard work. From cutting, raking, and baling hay to hunting deer and alligator, crawfishing, and fishing, she lived with a deep connection to the land and the life it provided. She found joy in the outdoors and purpose in every task. At 84, she was still riding her zero-turn lawn mower, tending to her yard with pride and independence.
She was known far and wide for her incredible cooking — especially her famous beef liver with white beans and salt meat — a dish that brought family and friends to the table with smiles and full hearts. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and tradition.
Family was her world. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in every new addition to the family. With nimble fingers and a heart full of love, she sewed blankets, bibs, dresses, and clothes — each stitch a gift of her devotion and joy.
Ondina never met a stranger. Her warmth, wit, and wisdom made everyone feel like family. She was a woman of grit and grace, whose life was driven by passion, purpose, and love.
She will be remembered for her tireless spirit, her unmatched work ethic, her unshakable faith, and the way she made everyone feel like they mattered. Ondina was truly one of a kind — a remarkable woman whose legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Louviere and his wife Charlene, and Widley Joe Louviere, Jr., and his wife Tracy; a daughter, Dawn Crum and her husband Charlie; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Josh, Nick, Jolyn, Noah, Brandi, Carlie, Alex, and Maddie; nine great-grandchildren, Kristin, Gage, Brayden, Connor, Colton, Presley, Gabby, River, and Owen; three great-great-grandchildren, Ella, Emerson, and future baby Nimrod; and four siblings, Sylvia, Butch, Portia, and Kirk.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Widley J. Louviere, Sr.; her parents, Lennet and Anita Trahan Grivat; three sons, James Louviere, and her twin boys.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Louviere, Joe Louviere, Joshua Louviere, Nick Louviere, Alex Louviere, Noah Louviere, and Saul Martinez.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mike Murphy, Bret Gardner, Charlie Crum, Larry Miller, Connor Nimrod, Russ Noles, and Derek Miller.
