Loreauville–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Ned Paul Dugas, 77, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Barry Crochet as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Prayed at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church prior to the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Loreauville, Ned Paul Dugas was born to James, Sr., and Lou Ella Trahan Dugas on March 31, 1948, and he passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his daughter’s residence in Loreauville.
Ned, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and best friend, passed away in Loreauville, his lifelong home. Born in St. Martinville, Ned dedicated many years to sugarcane farming before finding his niche as a heavy equipment operator, ultimately retiring as supervisor of Waste Management. He found true joy in the company of his family, especially his cherished great-grandchildren Wyatt and Quinn. Ned's warm heart and readiness to assist anyone in need touched countless lives in the community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ned Dugas is survived by daughters, Michele Dugas Burke and husband Robert Perry Burke, Jr. of Loreauville, Kristi Dugas, and companion Erin Taylor of Lafayette; grandchildren, Robert “Trey” Burke, III and wife Kaci Burke of Youngsville, Skyllar Burke Sonnier and husband Britt Sonnier of Loreauville; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Burke, Quinn Sonnier, baby Burke due to arrive January 2026; bonus grandchildren, Jackson Taylor, Lexi Taylor; siblings, Huey Dugas, Sr., Bobby Dugas, Terry Dupuis, Vickie Duplechain, Louella Blanchard and husband Durphy, Joy Thibodeaux and husband Chickly, and Mr. Ned was blessed to be godfather to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Louviere Dugas; parents, James Sr., and Lou Ella Trahan Dugas; siblings, James Dugas Jr., Ward Dugas, L.J. Dugas, and Earline Dugas Bonin.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Michele Burke, Kristi Dugas, Robert Burke, Trey Burke, Britt Sonnier, Jackson Taylor.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Huey Dugas, Sr., Bobby Dugas, and Perry Burke.
The family would like to thank Traditions Health and Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thanks to his caregiver, Margaret Antoine for her love and special care over the years.
