A native of Loreauville, Nancy passed away on Sunday, July 20, at Iberia Medical Center. Nancy was a beloved wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, treasured friend, and compassionate health care provider.

Nancy’s love for her hometown of Loreauville began when she was born at La Salette Memorial Hospital on October 12, 1955. The bells at St. Joseph’s rang to celebrate that, after three boys, Dr. and Mrs. Schneider finally had a girl! Nancy was fiercely proud of her Loreauville roots, and although life took her to Lafayette Parish both to attend college at USL then to raise her family, she ultimately returned to the beautiful home on the Bayou Teche where she’d grown up with her parents, her big brothers, her special Lou, and always a menagerie of animals. She was a 1973 graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Iberia, and she always enjoyed reunions with her classmates.

Nancy’s dedication to healthcare spanned over 50 years, beginning as a student nurse and eventually earning her Master's degree and becoming both a Women’s Health/Family Health nurse practitioner, practicing primary care in underserved and rural communities.

Nancy was one of the first nurse practitioners in the state of Louisiana. She completed her MSN degree and NP certification at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1991, commuting from Lafayette while working full-time at University Medical Center and raising her two children. She was a clinical instructor for LSU Medical School and ran the GYN clinic at UMC, before eventually opening the Raymond F. Schneider Memorial Clinic in 2007 in honor of her beloved father and continuing a legacy of quality, compassionate care dating back to her parents’ arrival in Loreauville in the early 1950s. In addition to her deep care for her patients, Nancy also mentored and precepted countless numbers of aspiring nurse practitioners – and not a few young physicians – across South Louisiana.

Beyond her professional achievements, Nancy cherished moments lounging by the pool with her friends, tending to her many pets and farm animals, and sewing and smocking beautiful dresses and rompers for her grandbabies. She took a special interest in her granddaughter Ella's passion for horse-riding and actively supported the 4-H program, dating back to the time when her children were involved as well. For Nancy's family and loved ones, she was their biggest supporter and cheerleader, and she loved keeping abreast of every detail of their lives, whether in Philadelphia, France, or across Acadiana.

Nancy had the most distinctive whistle which could pierce through any noise to capture everyone’s attention, especially that of her children, Emily and Timmy. She was the most devoted fan of her children, both of whom she raised right, and she never seemed to miss a science fair, soccer game, scout meeting, or other activity. She was the leader of Girl Scout Troop 448 for years.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Emily Robin, son-in-law Benjamin Groverman, and grandchildren, Aaron, Isaac, and Rachel Groverman; her son Timothy Robin, daughter-in-law Rebecca Robin, and granddaughters Ella Robin and Charley Miller; her stepchildren Quinlynn Holtzclaw and Silas Holtzclaw; and step-grandchildren Tyler Delcambre and Matthew, Jordan, Cortland, and Chloe Holtzclaw; her brothers, Charles “Bubba” Schneider and his wife Maggie and David “Max” Schneider and his wife Debbie; her sister-in-law, Paula Louviere; and her first husband John Timothy “Tim” Robin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Holtzclaw; her parents, Dr. Raymond F. Schneider and Nellie “Elaine” Harbin Schneider; her oldest brother, Raymond “Skippy” Schneider Junior; and her former in-laws, John Ray Robin and Evely Benoit Robin.
