New Iberia – Memorial Services for Nadine Steel, 65, will take place at 7:00PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Wynard Boutté officiating. Inurnment to follow at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 6:00PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home until the time of service.

A native of Morgan City and a resident of New Iberia, Nadine Marie Steel passed away at 11:43AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Iberia Medical Center.

She was happiest tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, spending time with her beloved weenie dogs, Coty and Vegas, and cheering through countless games of Bingo. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and treasured every moment spent with her family. A lover of “the Show”, she never passed up the opportunity to make a trip to the movies and always enjoyed sharing the experience with those she loved.

She also had a deep passion for art, taking lessons with Oscar Ortiz and expressing herself through mediums such as charcoal and color pastels. Her creativity, warmth, and love for those around her will be remembered by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.

She is survived by her mother, Theresa Bourque Steel; her brother, James “Mitch” Steel and his wife Regina; her sister, Terese Peltier and her husband Blaine; her nieces and nephews, David Landry, Derrick Landry, Charles Steel, Crystal Steel, Victoria Louviere, Peyton Peltier; her cousin and best friend, Melissa “Missy” Decoux; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Marion Steel; her brother, David Steel; her sister, Jeanene M. Landry and her husband Rusty Landry; her maternal grandparents, Edias and Effie Bourque; her paternal grandparents, Bryant and Otha Steel.

Frioux Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 337-369-6336, will be handling the services.
