Erath – A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held to celebrate the life of Mr. Michael James Landry, 73, at 1:00PM, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Our Saviors Church in Abbeville, and continue until 2:00PM, with a Memorial Service following.
A native of New Iberia and resident of Erath, Michael James Landry passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:23AM, with his family by his side. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially passionate about deer hunting, and took great pride in his beloved “trophy” room, which told the story of countless seasons well spent. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was talking about hunting and fishing—always with a story to tell and a smile to share. A true man’s man, he was hardworking, selfless, and always put his family first. An accomplished carpenter, he was highly skilled at building houses and took great pride in his craftsmanship, leaving behind work that will stand for generations. He was a real character who loved to laugh, strike up conversations with just about anyone, and spend time with his hunting buddies. His larger-than-life presence, generous heart, and love for the outdoors will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Michael James Landry is survived by his devoted wife and favorite fishing buddy, Susan Trahan Landry of Erath; one son Blake Jude Landry of Erath; two daughters, Stacy Landry Breaux and her husband Stephen of New Iberia, and Kristy Landry LeJeune and her husband Steven of Maurice; three grandchildren, Cole Domingue and his wife Gabby of Erath, Reese Domingue of Erath, and Ashlyn Porche of New Iberia; one great-grandchild, Porter Domingue of Erath; one sister, Susan Hebert and her husband Kim of Erath; and two Godchildren, Jennifer Broussard Teekel of Erath and Coty Dore of Erath.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Landry and Gussie Broussard Landry.
Frioux-David Funeral Home of Erath, 209 East Putnam Street, will be handling the arrangements. (337) 937-0405
