1 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith…"
A native and a lifelong resident of Abbeville, our beloved Michael Wayne Huntsberry was born August 10, 1955 to the late Elmo Joseph Huntsberry and Annie Broussard Huntsberry.
Michael was a loving son, devoted father, and proud grandfather who loved his family beyond measure. One of the things he will be remembered for most was a small gesture that made everyone feel uniquely loved. Michael never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. His warm smile, kind heart, and genuine interest in others drew people to him, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Michael was a generous and compassionate man who was always aware of the needs of others and never hesitated to help. He would truly give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He enjoyed fishing and cooking, but his greatest passion was woodworking and refurbishing furniture — taking something old and worn and making it new again, giving it renewed beauty and purpose. In many ways, this reflected how he lived his life: restoring, uplifting, and caring deeply for the people around him. His love, kindness, and spirit will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
Michael survived by his mother, Annie Broussard Huntsberry; his children, Shantel Eggleston (Stephen), Michael Shawn Huntsberry, Jordan Huntsberry; grandchildren, Nea, London, Zoey, Landon, Anya, Callie; siblings, Linda H. Blackwell (Leonard, Jr.), Keith Huntsberry; godchild, Brandon Johnson; his brother-in-law, Felix Ruffin, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Chaisson Huntsberry; his father, Elmo Huntsberry, and a sister, Cynthia Ruffins.
