Honoring our mother’s request, private graveside services were held on Tuesday, August 16,2022 at Beau Pre Cemetery, Jeanerette Louisiana, for Mercedes “Dee” Lampo, age 97, who passed away on August 14, 2022.
Mercedes Lampo was a native of Jeanerette for most of her life and a resident of Lafayette La, for the past twenty-one years. During her many years residing in Jeanerette, she actively participated in numerous civic and social organizations including Garden Club, Entre Nous, Chamber of Commerce and served as an officer and Board member of the Jeanerette Sugar Museum. She also was an enthusiastic life writer, attending classes sponsored by UL Life Writing Courses, writing memories that were shared with family members and friends. As a very accomplished hostess, Mercedes prepared wonderful luncheons and dinners for family, friends and numerous clients and dignitaries, along with her husband Larry, during the years spent as partners, in J and L Engineering Company. Mercedes always had a pot of hot coffee and freshly made pastries ready for family or just visitors stopping in. Dee kept a meticulously landscaped yard and enjoyed tending to the many varieties of colorful flowers and plants. During the most recent past, she spent time enjoying visits from family and friends, reading, working crossword puzzles, and participating in activities of bingo, arts and crafts, and socials offered.
Throughout her life, she never took things for granted, and was always grateful for the many blessings during her lifetime. Dee was a wonderful inspiration to so many folks, during the journey throughout her life. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren for the accomplishments within their lives. Her spirit was caring, compassionate, understanding, always loving, and she will be missed by us all.
