A native of Vermilion Parish, Mr. Mayo Morvant, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Mayo was a hardworking man who lived each day to the fullest, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction and gained invaluable leadership skills that shaped his personal and professional life. As a Salvage Man in the Army, Mayo was entrusted with the responsibility of recovering important items for the military, a duty he performed with dedication and skill.
After his military service, Mayo applied his learned skills in his career as a successful Dairy Farmer, where he enjoyed the rewards of hard work. He also retired from his position at Diamond Crystal Saltmine, where he worked in mining, and served as a Foreman for the Police Jury. A proud member of the American Legion and a volunteer Fireman with the LeBlanc Fire Department, Mayo was deeply committed to his community.
Outside of his work, Mayo was an avid outdoors person, spending his days on the farm, raising cattle, and baling hay. He had a passion for playing bourrée at Moonoo’s every Tuesday afternoon, and his mornings were never complete without enjoying coffee with his close friends—Luther Richard, Huey Hebert, Terrell Broussard, and Ravis Landry.
Mayo’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.
