New Iberia – A Gathering of Family and Friends for Mary Joyce Broussard Moreland, 92, will begin at 10:00AM until 7:00PM on Monday, September 21, 2026, with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM by the Men’s Rosary Group. The Gathering will resume at 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with interment to follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
Mary, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at 12:40PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and countless people who loved her dearly.
Mary loved playing bingo and card games, taking bus trips to Cypress Bayou, and spending time with the friends and classmates she had known since childhood. She was also a member of a bowling league, a lifetime member of the VFW, and a volunteer for the Red Cross.
Family was especially important to her, she treasured time spent with her loved ones, enjoyed family dinners where her family often enjoyed her signature macaroni salad. She adored her grandchildren and took great pride in the time she shared with them. Mary also loved arts and crafts and was known for her creativity and appreciation of the little things that made life beautiful.
Mary will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former classmates, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on through the stories shared, traditions continued, and the love she gave so freely.
She is survived by four children, Deborah Moreland Boutte and her husband Allen, Robert Moreland Jr., John Keith Moreland, Brenda Ann Moreland and her partner Claudio Baez; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Robert L. Moreland Sr.; her parents, Paul Broussard and Lillian Babin Broussard; her daughter, Nancine Moreland Griffith; her granddaughter, Sharon Rose Griffith; her siblings, Mae Hilt, Sheryl Myers, Ida Darcy, Johnny Broussard, Gerald Broussard, Donald Broussard.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Claudio Baez, John Moreland, Robert Moorhart, Robert Moreland, Allen “AJ” Boutte II, and Philip Trosclair Jr.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Zackary Moreland, Jamison Boutte, and Kristian Trosclair.
