A native of Erath and resident of Coteau, Marty Poirrier passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Carpentier House in Lafayette.
Marty will be remembered as a man full of life, joy, and love for the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He had a deep passion for the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, practicing archery, or spending a day on the golf course. He loved working in his vegetable garden, tending to it with care and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and neighbors. Marty also held a true cowboy spirit in his heart, enjoying trail rides and the excitement of the rodeo. His adventurous nature and love for these pastimes were matched only by his love of music, dancing, and the good times spent in the company of his friends.
Above all, Marty’s greatest joy came from his family. He adored his daughter and cherished his granddaughter with all his heart, treasuring every moment with them. His love for them shined brightly in everything he did, leaving them with countless beautiful memories. Marty will be deeply missed, but his warmth, kindness, and zest for life will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
Marty is survived by his daughter, Scarlet Poirrier of Coteau; girlfriend, Clara Girard of Broussard; granddaughter, Kalani Poirrier; siblings, Brent Poirrier (Charlette), Linda Lejeune (Curtis), Mark Poirrier (Nikkie), Brady Poirrier (Linda), and Ex-wife, Melissa L. Poirrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ridge, and Shirley Touchet Poirrier.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Roy Broussard, Jeff Savoy, Jamie Bourque, Carol Guilbeaux, Kim LeBlanc, and Kieth Paul LeBlanc.
The family would like to thank Carpenter House for all their care, kindness, and support.
