Malinda Sue Meyers passed away at 11:43PM, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. She lived a life defined by strength, love, service, and creativity. With remarkable courage and determination, she left Virginia and moved to Louisiana with her two young daughters, driven by the dream of creating a better life for her family. Through hard work, perseverance, and devotion to her family, she created the safe, loving home she always wanted for her daughters and, alongside her husband, built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Malinda found her greatest happiness with her husband and best friend, Murphy. Together they shared countless adventures, especially their family beach vacations, where they made memories that would last a lifetime. One of her favorite stories to tell was from the early days of their relationship, when she would prepare sandwiches and bring them to Murphy while he was on patrol at the Governor's Mansion. During those visits, she became the Governor's hunting dog's favorite companion, faithfully taking him for walks each time she stopped by. A dedicated public servant, Malinda devoted her career to protecting and serving others. She proudly served with the New Iberia Police Department, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, and later as an investigator for the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. Her commitment to justice, integrity, and the people of her community earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of her career, Malinda's artistic spirit flourished. She loved expressing her creativity by making custom shirts, personalized cups, beautiful wreaths, and handcrafted gifts. She also enjoyed spending time at craft shows, where she found inspiration and admired the creativity of others. Anyone who knew Malinda knew her heart belonged to her family and her animals. She adored her dogs and goats, and her Facebook page was filled with countless photos celebrating the pets she loved so dearly. More than anything, however, she treasured her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she delighted in every moment spent loving, encouraging, and making memories with them. Malinda will be remembered as a resilient, strong-willed woman whose determination endured through every challenge. She faced life's challenges with courage, worked tirelessly to provide for those she loved, and never lost her generous heart or creative spirit. Her legacy lives through the family she cherished, the lives she touched through her service, and the countless memories she created with those fortunate enough to know and love her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Malinda is survived by her husband, Murphy Meyers; two daughters, Sharon Burks, and Sadie LaPoint and her husband Blake; two step-daughters, Emily Lambert and Anna Meyers; six grandchildren, Cohen LaPoint, Roderick Hawkins, Jr., Ammarie Hawkins, Jack LaPoint, Hudson LaPoint, and Leo LaPoint; four step-grandchildren, Hayden Armstrong, Ava Brakefield, Ellie Lambert, and Maggie Lambert; and one sister, Liz Crumb.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Buccini; and her grandson, Tristian Burks.

Pallbearers will be Roderick Hawkins, Jr., Blake LaPoint, Cohen LaPoint, Adam Meyers, Michael Louviere, and Wesley Meyers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roderick Hawkins, Sr., Quentin Adcock, Jack LaPoint, and Hudson LaPoint.
