Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Malcolm “Coco” Anthony Broussard, 85, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Broussard on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 1:00PM with Rev. Michael Delcambre officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Due to weather conditions, the Broussard family has chosen to make attendance for interment optional for the public.

Visitation will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, February 2, 2025 from 10:00AM until time of services.

A resident of Broussard, Mr. Malcolm, affectionately known as “Coco, Pop, Coco-Pop, P-Pop and T-Bruce,” passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Mr. Malcolm was a graduate of Scott High School, Class of 1958. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years, from 1958 until 1961. After his military service, he dedicated over thirty-five years of faithful employment to SLEMCO. In his free time, Mr. Malcolm found joy in fishing for sac-a-lait, gardening, camping, and traveling. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, who meant everything to him. His presence, love, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Virginia “Ann” Bennett Sonnier Broussard; his children, Malcolm Broussard II of Lafayette, Christopher "Chris" Broussard and his wife Elizabeth of Chesapeake, VA, Katherine Carpenter and her husband Alan of Lafayette, and Kelly Hardy of Maurice; his step-children, Renee Dore of Broussard, Mark Sonnier of New Iberia, and Blaze Sonnier of Broussard; his grandchildren, Lauren Broussard, Steven Carpenter, Sarah Carpenter, Jared Langley, Ethan Langley, and Halle Hardy; his step-grandchildren, Brittani Dore, Courtney Dore, Breigh Sonnier, Ali Sonnier, Taylor Sonnier, Colby Sonnier, Chase Hardy, and Layne Hardy; his five great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Gerald Broussard of Lafayette, Jimmy Broussard of Scott, and Margaret Rowe and her husband Lamont of Natchez, MS.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Arthur Broussard and Mary Eve Dugas Broussard; his son, Steven John Broussard; his son-in law, David Hardy; and his sister-in laws, Mary Broussard and Elaine Broussard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Malcolm Broussard II, Chris Broussard, Alan Carpenter, Jared Langley, Ethan Langley, Steven Carpenter.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Amy Romero, Brandy Moreno, Tanya Noel, Lateigra Arvie, Sharon Boone, Tiffany Ursin, Otharee Loston, Vivian St. Julien, Zita Brooks, Home Instead and Hospice of Acadiana.
