Lucy A. Vincent Rooks

New Iberia–A Celebration of life will be held on a later date, for Lucy A. Vincent Rooks, age 77 who passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Iberia Medical Center.

Lucy was truly a one-of-a-kind individual who never met a stranger. She had a gift for conversation and was always ready to share a story about her friends or family, bringing smiles and laughter wherever she went. Lucy’s love for her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished each of them deeply. Family gatherings were especially dear to her, as she was the go-to cook who delighted in preparing meals and indulging those she loved most.

A sociable and dedicated woman, Lucy spent 21 years as the Food and Beverage Manager of Badeaux’s, where she formed lasting friendships and left a meaningful impression on all who knew her. In her quieter moments, Lucy found her greatest pleasure sitting outside and watching the world go by on her own terms—no hurry, no rushing—simply enjoying life as it unfolded around her. Her warmth, kindness, and love for family will be remembered always.

Lucy is survived by her children, Vinel Crochet, Cheryl Segura (Calvin), Haywood Bourque (Constance), Elvis Bourque (Jamie), Drucella Bourque, Faye Dore’ (Corey), Eva Archangel, Steven Badeaux; siblings, Debbie Webb, James Vincent; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and numerous stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rooks; parents, Ras and Ruth O’quinn Vincent; 5 siblings, Mary Langlinais, Sally Vincent, Richard Vincent, Jefferson Vincent, and Lottie Delcambre.
