New Iberia – Funeral services will be held for Lucille Albert Breaux, 93, (wife of the late Joseph Clovis “J.C.” Breaux III born June 27, 1930) on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Frioux-David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia with Father Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A Rosary will be led by the Men’s Rosary Group at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Lucille, who was most proud to be known as MawMaw to her many grand and great- grandchildren, was a native of St. Martinville born July 11, 1932, then a lifelong adult resident of New Iberia. She passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Maison Teche Nursing Home. Lucille, who was affectionately known to her relatives and closest friends as “Nan ShooShoo”, wed J.C. at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church on June 4, 1949, while J.C. was on weekend leave from his 7-year enlistment in the U.S. Army. Other than J.C.’s military service commitment and occasional hunting and fishing trips, they were inseparable. They even lost their own identities when they were together – they simply referred to each other as “Baby” – only the tone and inflection with which “Baby” was spoken distinguished the emotion each was feeling for the other at any given time.

If you did the math, J.C. was only 18 and Lucille was only 16 when they wed. They immediately started their family and began pursuing careers which included the grocery business, tax return preparation, cake making and home making to name a few. While raising a young family, Lucille later completed her high school education completing her “GED”. In their later careers, J.C. and Lucille became licensed Real Estate Agents, then they completed all hours required to become Real Estate Brokers - she was J.C.’s entire support network in real estate and at home. But it was not all work and no play.

Lucille’s other passions included crocheting (making beautiful afghans for every member of the family and beyond), quilting, sewing, gardening (her flowering plants were a thing of legend), cooking, making cakes, doing word puzzles, vacationing with J.C., children and grandchildren, camping, hiking the many mountain trails in both the Rocky and Smoky Mountains.

Lucille’s faith was major force in her life. She was a catechism volunteer teacher for Perpetual Help Catholic Church while living on Breaux Alley. After moving to the Abbeville Highway, she and J.C. chaired the money counting teams at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. And later still once they moved to Rosemount Drive, she was a regular at the early “old people” mass on Sundays at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church until COVID and declining mobility made attendance impossible. Even though she suffered from cognitive decline, she would often break into prayer in English and French until the very end.

As she was very fond of saying: “C'est la vie” and “Après une temps vient un autre”.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth P. Breaux (wife Kristi), Karen Breaux Faucheaux (husband Danny) and Kreig A. Breaux (wife Tiffany); grandchildren, Shane Faucheaux, Erin Henry, Amy Courrege, Stephanie Hartman, Jenny Reed, Sean Faucheaux, Joseph “Joey” Breaux V, Kelly Breaux, Alexander Breaux, and Samuel Breaux; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Saint Maurice Albert and Emma Bonin Albert; husband of 72 years, Joseph Clovis “J.C.” Breaux III; son, J.C. Breaux IV; and sisters: Elizabeth “Chut” Albert Lormand, Solange “Sole” Albert Dugas, Clemence “Bayon” Albert Broussard and Lucy Albert Guidry and brothers: Mayo Albert, Clytus “Cot” Albert and Albert Albert.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Shane Faucheaux, Sean Faucheaux, Joseph “Joey” Breaux V, Alexander Breaux, Samuel Breaux and Connor Henry.
