Linda Wilma Jones

Lafayette– Funeral services will be conducted for Linda Wilma Jones, age76, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Frioux Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew Doucet officiating. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM until time of service.

Linda Wilma Jones was born in Paterson, New Jersey to Edward and Wilhelmina Jones. Always full of life and mischief, her personality and sometimes temper matched her flaming red hair. The younger of two girls, Linda, always had something to say and lived a more free-spirited life in her younger years. When Elaine, her sister had children she was always the fun aunt giving out candy too close to dinner time and taking them to the beach, amusement parks, and anywhere else she thought was fun as Linda was a big kid at heart. Holidays and birthdays were celebrated with funny cards, plenty of sweets and gifts that were many even when times were challenging. Linda never had her own children but celebrated all the children in her extended family down to her great nieces and nephews while making weekly family dinners a little more fun as events of the week were shared.

After completing an Associate’s Degree, Linda was a hard worker in the many positions she held including working at the Kennedy Space Center, Disney World, and the city of Tampa, Florida. As Linda got older, she continued to work after retirement for spending money and to keep her busy while making friends along the way.

Linda enjoyed some traveling with her mother and other family members enjoying cruises all throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska creating a lifetime of memories and laughter. In more recent years she enjoyed visiting friends in Wisconsin enjoying the cooler weather while escaping from the heat in the deep south.

Linda is survived by her sister, Elaine Elsayed (Mostafa) of Broussard, her siblings, William Jones of Tennessee, Edward Jones (Marilyn) of New Jersey; nieces and nephew, Nadia Elsayed, Dr. Raymond Elsayed (Leslie), Heather Doucet (Matthew), and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Wilhelmina VanDyke Jones.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Matthew Doucet, Raymond Elsayed, James Garcelon, Lleyton Doucet, Michah Doucet, and Gideon Elsayed.
