Judith Gertrude Schexnayder

New Iberia-- Memorial services will be conducted for Judith "Judy" Schexnayder, 79, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter Street, New Iberia. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery and Mausoleum in Jeanerette next to her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Pastor Grace LeBlanc of The Community Church will preside.

A native of Jeanerette and long-time resident of Lafayette, Judith Schexnayder passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Oschner General Hospital in Lafayette of chronic illness. She was a graduate of Jeanerette High School and had attended USL studying Art.

Judy loved her family dearly. She especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals for her friends using her mother's heirloom recipes. She had a special place in her heart for her fur babies.

Judith is survived by her brother, Isby Schexnayder, Jr. (Julaine), numerous nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend, Dwayne Melancon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isby L. Schexnayder, Sr., Julia Weber Schexnayder, one sister, Karin Schexnayder Hippler, her brother-in-law, Charles Hippler, and a niece, Karin Hippler Lehmann.
