Juanita Gonzales Verret

Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Juanita Gonzales Verret, 94, will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Jeanerette. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:00AM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home of Jeanerette with a recitation of the rosary at 10:00AM.

Juanita was a woman who knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. She loved nothing more than being gathered around a table to play cards, sharing laughter and good times with those she loved. She had a particular fondness for a good steak from Outback Steakhouse, a cold margarita, and a night out at the dance. 

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She loved cooking for them and took immense pride in preparing delicious Mexican dishes to share around the dinner table. Her kitchen was a hub of love and memories that her family will treasure forever.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, her love of laughter, good company, and the countless memories she created with the people she held dear. Though she will be missed dearly, her love will live on in the hearts of her family, in every game of cards, every family meal, and every margarita raised in her memory.

Juanita is survived by six children, Olivia Jolet and her husband Randy, Madeline Hays and her husband Tom, Jeanna Hamil and her husband Tim, Ricky Verret and his wife Shantel, Ken Verret, and Don Verret; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her brother, Johnny Gonzales.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over forty years, Alvin Verret; two sons, Willard Woodby, Tommy Woodby; two siblings, Massy Gonzales, Polly Mills; her parents, Salvador Gonzales and Guadalupe Medina Gonzales.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Randy Jolet Jr., Dusty Jolet, Andrew Hays, Jordan Verret, Colby Verret, and Deacon McBride.

Frioux Funeral Home of Jeanerette at 400 Provost Street (337) 276-5151 will be handling the arrangements.
