Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Trahan, 88, will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Anne Mausoleum.
Joe Trahan was born April 8, 1933, in Youngsville, Louisiana and grew up in Beaumont, Texas. He is a veteran of the Korean War, having served as an enlisted man in the US Army. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University, Beaumont, TX 1959. He began his career as a design and construction engineer with the United Gas Pipeline Company in Lafayette. He continued his career with the Corps of Engineers in 1963. He led several assignments and served as Chief of the Engineering and Planning Division in 1977. He held this position until his retirement in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Hill Trahan; his sons, Joseph Trahan, Jr. and his wife Bradley, John Trahan and his wife Monica, and Jason Trahan; his sister, Anabell Smith; his two grandsons; and his three granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Romian Trahan and Esperance Baudoin Trahan.
