Joseph Larry Hebert, Sr.

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Joseph Larry Hebert, Sr., 78, at 10:00AM, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with Rev. William Blanda officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin at 5:00PM and continue until 10:00PM, on Tuesday, December 29, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia. A Recitation of the Rosary will be led by Deacon Dirk Viator at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00AM, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and continue until the time of service.

A native of Leonville and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Joseph Larry Hebert, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was a beloved jokester whose greatest joy was making people laugh. A skilled butcher and dedicated truck driver, he loved sitting outside, camping, and listening to classic country and swamp pop music, always with a smile that matched his striking blue eyes. Joseph proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, a service he held close to his heart. His life was made complete when he fell in love with his amazing wife, and he will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unconditional love for those around him.

Mr. Joseph Larry Hebert, Sr. is survived by two sons, Joseph Hebert, Jr. and his wife Mary of St. Martinville, and Troy Hebert and his wife Barbara of Carencro; two daughters, Tabitha Hebert Frederick and her partner Dwayne of New Iberia, and Jonell Chapman and her husband Everett of Mississippi; five grandchildren, Trey Michael Colomb and his wife Brittany of Lafayette, Chelsea Bearry and her husband Marshall of Baton Rouge, Ashley Gary and her husband Joseph of New Iberia, Joey Douget and his wife Heather of New Iberia, and Brett Segura and his partner Makenna of Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Isla Colomb, Karter Thibodeaux, Kaylie Thibodeaux, Julian Douget, Brantley Segura, and a sweet baby on the way; and two godchildren, Mona Sylvester and Janelle Lanclos.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Girouard Hebert, his parents, Clement Hebert, Sr. and Olympe Lalonde Hebert, two grandchildren, Blake Hebert and Kaylie Koen; three brothers, Allen Hebert, Clement Hebert, and Houston Hebert; and five sisters, Mary Lee Hebert, Anna Lee Rivette, Maude Rivette, Barbara Lanclos, and Janelle Deville; and his godchild, Patrick Lanclos.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Hebert, Jr., Troy Hebert, Trey Colomb, Joey Douget, Everette Chapman, and Shannon Deville.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carter Thibodeaux and Dwayne Frederick.
