Joseph Buteau proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years. After his military service, he married his sweetheart, Hilda Verret, and together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. They were blessed with three sons, whom they raised with love and devotion. Joseph was a welder by trade, a hardworking man who took pride in his work and providing for his family. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his loved ones, gardening, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.
Joseph had a special love for fishing, a hobby that brought him so much happiness that he turned it into a side business. He also loved cooking for his family and friends, especially during the many gatherings he and Hilda hosted in their home. Those gatherings were filled with delicious food, laughter, fellowship, and the warmth of being surrounded by the people he loved most. And while Joseph was busy preparing a meal, you could often find him listening to his favorite music, adding his own special touch to the moment. His love for family, his generous spirit, and his appreciation for life's simple joys created lasting memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hilda V. Buteau; one son, Steve Buteau (Detra); grandchildren, Tray Buteau, Andrew Buteau (Jamie), Jared Richard; great granddaughter, Alisa Buteau, many other great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernice, and Eva DeRouen Buteau; two sons, Wayne Buteau, Dean Buteau; siblings, Loula Bell Buteau, and Moses Buteau.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for all their kindness and support they shared with Louella and our family.
