Bobby Boudreaux, beloved husband, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend, passed away holding the hand of his loving wife, Brenda, his devoted sister, Karon, by his side and his precious niece, Miranda Davis. He leaves behind a life full of adventure, laughter, and fierce devotion to those he held close.
Bobby was born August 24, 1956, to Dalton Louis “Jim” Boudreaux and Berna Gerard Boudreaux. He was welcomed into a large Cajun family full of girls. He had an unmatched zest for life. Bobby’s deep love for his family was rooted in his close relationship with his beloved momma, who passed away just two years ago at the incredible age of 99. The bond they shared was unbreakable – faith and strength working hand in hand to overcome any obstacle life placed in their way.
Bobby was married to the love of his life, Brenda Monceaux Boudreaux, affectionately known as “Shug.” Together for 35 years and married for 29, Bobby and Shug were true partners in life. They traveled the country, lived life to the fullest, and laughed their way through it all. Of all the side kicks Bobby had over the years, Shug was his favorite – prettier than the rest and definitely the better cook.
Bobby’s work ethic was unmatched. Starting at just 18 years old, he builds an incredible career in the oil field. From the roustabout to tool pusher, Barge Engineer, and finally one of the “suits,” Mooring Engineer, Bobby’s journey took him around the world. He worked for GSI, Noble, Reading & Bates, Nabors, and other “outfits,” always making his mark with hard work and plenty of personality.
But work alone was just part of Bobby’s story. Bobby would always said “Let’s check it out” - and he never did it alone. Whether with his lifelong childhood friends – Tonche, Mayon, Doc, Crut, the Bruddahs – or with his nephews, Bobby always made sure that life was an adventure to be shared.
Family meant everything to Bobby. He was predeceased by his parents, Dalton “Jim” and Berna Boudreaux, and heartbreakingly by his stepson, Murphy Lee Breaux, Jr. Also preceding him in death were his nephews, Gerard Duhon, Christopher Girouard, and James Girouard; brothers-in-law, Bob Duhon, Kenneth Ashley, Jeff Davis, Steve Landry, and Elzie Joseph, Jr.; and his in-laws, Lovine Marie Quebedeaux Monceaux and Elzie Joseph Monceaux.
Bobby is survived by his five sisters, Karon Boudreaux Davis (Bill), Cheryl Landry, Brenda Decoux, Audrey Ashley, and Beverly Duhon (Louis). He also leaves behind his cherished nephews, Scott Davis, Hershel Girouard II, Shannan Duhon, Shawn Duhon, Chad Duhon, and Troy Duhon.
To Bobby, his nieces were his “sha little hearts;” Dana Dischler (Rob), Miranda Davis (Luke), Alex Davis, Bridget Landry, Christin LeJeune (Brett), and Allison Turner (Clayton).
Bobby is also survived by his stepchildren, Rochelle Shamsie (Mike) and Toby Breaux, and step-grandchildren, Raven Lee Thibodeaux (Hannah), and Kynadi Shamsie (Alex), all of whom were part of the life he built with Shug.
Born into a family of girls, Bobby might not have gotten the baby brother he once wished for, but when his little sister Karon came along, he found his lifelong partner, sidekick, special op director, a great sub for a little brother. As her parrin, her godfather, Bobby was more than a brother – her confidante, protector, and heart.
Bobby always said funerals were for the living and wanted his to be a place of laughter, storytelling, and celebration of good times. And that’s exactly what it will be. We’ll gather, we’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll remember the man who made life richer for us all lucky enough to know him.
Now, he is with his beloved momma, and you can bet she’s holding him close, saying, “I hope you packed all your feathers, Bobby, ‘cuz you’re staying with me now.”
Pall bearers; Hershel Girouard, Scott Davis, Gary Vincent, Kerry Vincent, Terry Romero, Eric Peters, John Lee Gerard, Wayne Braus, Bill Schneider and Randy Smith.
