Abbeville - Graveside Services for Mrs. Janet H. Nunez, 71, will be held at St. Paul Cemetery on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00AM with Pastor Joseph Adams officiating.

A resident of Erath, Mrs. Janet passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life and shared that joy generously with everyone around her. She especially cherished her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Whether sharing stories or simply spending quiet afternoons together, she made each grandchild feel deeply loved and uniquely special. She delighted in crocheting and tending her flowers and plants, watching them grow and flourish under her patient care. She also had a love for adventure and travel, particularly enjoying riding with her late husband, Shane, in his eighteen-wheeler, and also on cruises where she could relax, explore new places, and take in the beauty of the open water. Her compassion extended beyond her family to the animals she adored. She lovingly cared for ducks and geese. Her gentle spirit and kindness toward all living things were a true reflection of her character. She will be remembered for her warmth, her generous heart, and the quiet strength with which she loved and supported those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the love she so freely gave.

She is survived by her children, Felicia Nunez of Jennings, Maggie Boudin and her husband Dino of Erath, Brent Nunez and his wife Michelle of Houma, and John Brooks and his wife Joanie of Erath; her grandchildren, Gabriel Richard, Morgan Nunez, Conner Brodnax, Blythe Miller, Christen Harblin, Mya Nunez, Addisyn Ramirez, Michael Nunez, Kiara Brooks, Caden Boudreaux, Luke Brooks, Gracelynn Menard, Brycen Menard, Everlynn Brooks, Aailyah Brooks, Kaiya Brooks, Amber McDaniel, Karey Robin, and Holly Duplantis; her great-grandchild, Ian Hebert; and her sister-in law, Beverly Hensley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Shane Nunez; her parents, Marion Hensley and Earlene Taylor Hensley; and her brother, Bill Hensley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Nunez, Christen Harblin, Clint Menard, Todd Breaux, Luke Brooks, and Connor Brodnax.
