Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James F. "Jimmy" Flynn, 78, will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Richard Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 8:30AM until the time of service on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Lafayette with a recitation of the rosary at 9:00AM.
A resident of Broussard, James, affectionately known as “Jimmy” passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Oschner Lafayette General Medical Center. Jimmy was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on November 1, 1947, in White Plains, New York. Jimmy’s life was a testament to his loving nature, his sense of humor, and his unwavering friendliness.
After graduating from White Plains High School in White Plains, New York, Jimmy answered the call of duty and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force in Korea during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he settled in Ville Platte, L.A. He worked as a diesel mechanic for John Deere and at Cooper Construction as a ball valve tester. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Broussard, L.A. to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Jimmy’s hobbies included walking, watching TV, especially sports and western movies and spending time with his grandchildren. His sense of humor was contagious and he was loved by so many because of his kind heart and humble demeanor. Jimmy will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jimmy’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his son Jamie (Sara) and his daughter Katie (Steve); his grandchildren, Madison Landry, Drew Landry, Abbie Flynn and Alicia Flynn. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bruce Flynn, Dennis Flynn (Laurie), Scott Flynn (Dawn), and his sister, Pamela Kauer (Don).
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Flynn and Alice Carpenter Flynn; brother, Robert Flynn; grandchild, Ian J. Landry.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jamie Flynn, Steve Landry, Drew Landry, Lane Perry, Reece Picard, and Albert Lejeune.
Frioux-David Funeral Home of Lafayette 316 Youngsville HWY (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
