Abbeville – Funeral Services for Jake Ryan Romero, 34, will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Abbeville with Pastor Francis Plaisance officiating. Interment will follow at Abshire Cemetery in Maurice.

Visitation will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home beginning at 5:00PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, until 10:00PM and will resume on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 9:00AM until the time of service.

Jake was someone who found happiness in life’s everyday pleasures — whether it was getting lost in YouTube videos, playing his favorite video games, or wandering through stores just for the fun of it. Music was a constant companion in his life, a soundtrack to both the good days and the tough ones.

He had a big heart and an even bigger appetite, always ready to enjoy a good meal and the comfort of familiar favorites. But above all else, Jake loved his German Shepherd, Apollo. Their bond was unbreakable — a true friendship filled with loyalty, love, and understanding.

Jake will be remembered for the simple, genuine way he connected with the world around him, and for the deep affection he gave to those lucky enough to know him — especially Apollo.

Jake Ryan Romero gained his angel wings at 12:49PM at Lafayette General Hospital. Jake was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his mother, Raquel Romero Bourque; his father, Kevin Bourque, Sr.; two brothers, Kevin Bourque, Jr. and Jacques Bourque of Abbeville; two sisters, Taylor Bourque Bares and her husband Ty, and Sarah Bourque of Abbeville; a grandfather, Ronnie Romero and his wife Charlene of Abbeville; a nephew, Abel Bares of Abbeville; a niece, Emma Bares of Abbeville; an unborn nephew on the way; an uncle, Blake Romero and his wife Nicole of Youngsville; two cousins, Riley Romero and Remi Romero of Youngsville; his best friend, Fabion Walker; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by a grandmother, Virginia Decoux; a great grandfather, Jacques Decoux; a great-grandmother, Betty Decoux; a great grandfather, Ophe Romero, Sr.; a great grandmother, Wilda Mae Romero; a great grandfather Purvis Bourque; a great-grandmother, Barbara Bourque; godmother, Barbara Decoux; a great-uncle, Ophe Romero, Jr.; a cousin, Lance Toups; and an aunt, Barbara Decoux.

Serving as pall bearers will be Jacques Bourque, Kevin Bourque, Jr., Fabion Walker, Ty Bares, Blake Romero, and Kevin Bourque, Sr.

Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Ronnie Romero and Abel Bares.
