Family and friends will begin gathering at 3:00PM on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Calvary Pentecostal Church of Jeanerette.
A native of Port Arthur, TX and a resident of New Iberia, Gregory Lynn Richard was born on July 24, 1962, passed away on March 1, 2026 at his residence. Notably, Greg was distinguished by his passion for nature and the outdoors, particularly kayaking and camping. Additionally, he showcased his artistic prowess through metal smithing and music, often playing the guitar. His insightful counsel and guidance were qualities that defined him, even as he humbly struggled to follow his own advice. As a father, Greg instilled in his children a strong faith foundation, teaching them the importance of the word of God, prayer and wisdom for life’s journey. In his later years, despite physical and financial limitations, Greg’s compassion and love for people led him to feed the homeless and encourage those battling addiction. His departure will be deeply felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.
He is survived by a son, Rev. Jeremy Richard and his wife Kimberly of Hobbs, NM; two daughters, Leah R. Boudreaux and her husband Josh of Gonzales, LA and Krista R. Smith and her husband Tyler of New Iberia, LA; a sister, Tina R. Wise; and six grandchildren, Preston Richard, Jada Richard, Adelaide Boudreaux, Dorian Smith, Caspian Smith, and Karina Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Barbara Staley Richard; a brother, Mike Richard; and two sisters, Nita R. Palozotto and Kaye R. Jeffers.
Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia at 1101 Trotter St. (337)369-6336 will be handling the arrangements.
