Gloria E. Courville

Loreauville–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Gloria E. Courville, age 81, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon as Celebrant. Betty Guidry, and Mariah Guidry will serve as Lectures. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday, evening at 7:00 p.m.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Loreauville, Gloria Courville passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

With hearts filled with both sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Gloria Courville, a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful friend, and humble servant of Jesus Christ whose life was a beautiful testimony of God’s love. For 62 wonderful years, Gloria shared a Christ-centered marriage with the love of her life, LeRoy Courville. Together they built a home founded upon faith, love, and unwavering devotion to one another. Having spent the majority of their lives in Loreauville, Louisiana, they were proud and faithful members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where Gloria joyfully lived out her calling to serve the Lord. Gloria possessed a true servant’s heart. She was a devoted Lay Minister and faithfully served in the Catholic Daughters and devoted countless hours to teaching Catechism, where she had a remarkable gift for sharing God’s Word with children and helping young hearts discover the love of Jesus Christ. She understood that teaching the faith was more than presenting lessons.....it was planting seeds of hope, compassion, and eternal truth that would continue to grow for generations. Her passion for encouraging young people extended beyond the walls of the church. As a substitute teacher, Gloria became a trusted mentor to countless students. Whether in the classroom or the parish, she believed every child deserved to be seen, encouraged, and reminded of their God-given worth. To know Gloria was to experience genuine Christian love. She never met a stranger. Her warm embrace, kind smile, and gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome. She had a beautiful habit of hugging those she met and reminding them, “I love you, and God loves you too.” Even during her final days in the hospital, she continued ministering to nurses, doctors, visitors, and caregivers with those same heartfelt words. Her concern for others never faded because her faith never wavered. A deeply prayerful woman, Gloria faithfully prayed the Holy Rosary every day alongside her Leroy, lifting up her beloved family, her church, and her community before the Lord. Her trust in God was steadfast, and her quiet example inspired those around her to draw closer to Christ. When she wasn’t serving others, Gloria enjoyed dancing with her husband, spending time with family & friends at their camp, spending time with dear friends playing Pokeno, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, fellowship, and joy. Above all else, Gloria will be remembered for a life that reflected the love of Christ. She demonstrated that the greatest ministry is often found in simple acts of kindness....a hug, an encouraging word, a faithful prayer, or a lesson lovingly taught. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the children she mentored, the family she treasured, and the faith she so faithfully lived each day.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leroy Courville; her children, Melissa Prados (Louis), Monica Courville (Alren Mayea), Marsha Vice (Scott), Manda Courville (Frank Dean), Chad Courville (Angel McDonough); sister, Irene Getsinger (Robert); 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Bertha Badeaux Bonin; one grandson, Jacob Courville, siblings, Georgia Badeaux, Mary Mae Bonin, Gilbert Bonin, Harold Bonin; in-laws, Oscar Courville, Anne Courville; nine foster children who were in need of a loving home, and two foreign exchange students from France.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Chad Courville, Dylan Prados, Peyton Crum, Dalton “Bones” Barnhill, Scott Vice, and Louis Prados.

Honorary Pallbearers are Oscar Theriot, Brandon Stevens, Aldren Mayea, Frank Dean, Roy Courville, Derrell Louviere, Brad Courville, John Kylea, Gannon Guidry, and Donald Courville

The family would like to give a special thanks to Rachel Patin, who for the past two years cared for Gloria as thought she was a member of her own family.
