Gerald passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by those he loved most.
Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary, building a life together rooted in faith, family, and simple joys. After retiring, Gerald and Mary spent much of their time traveling and exploring new places, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for gardening and caring for his homestead—he took great pride in keeping his lawn immaculate and his home a welcoming place for all who visited.
In his quieter moments, Gerald enjoyed relaxing with his favorite western movies and television shows. Some of his happiest days were spent at their camp in Cypremort Point, where he delighted in fishing and spending time with loved ones by the water. Gerald lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by those he cherished most, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, hard work, and steadfast love.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary G. Hebert; two children, Whittie Borel (Daniel), Gerald Jude Hebert, Jr. (Jessica); grandchildren, Dani Leonards (Thomas), Erin Verret (Luke), Caitlin Hebert, Gavin Hebert; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Louie Leonards, Holland, Elliot, and Andrew Verret; Melissa ”Mimi” Cantrelle, and Lillie Cantrelle daughter and granddaughter at heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney Hebert and Gertrude Bouillion Norman.
The family would like to thank Allegiance Hospice for all the kindness and support.
