Lafayette - A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 201 Church Street, Youngsville, LA 70592. The service will be preceded by a wake beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Farrell “Bull” Fletcher was extraordinary in all his roles: husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and businessman. He enjoyed all of life and most deeply cherished spending time with his family.
Farrell was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on July 23, 1946 to H.B. “Bud” Fletcher and Melba Sutherlin Fletcher. His family subsequently relocated from Lake Charles to New Iberia, Louisiana and to Lafayette, Louisiana in 1951. He attended Lafayette Senior High School and continued his education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, known then as theUniversity of Southwestern Louisiana. With his family at his side, Farrell’s valiant battle with cancer and its complications ended on November 9, 2025. With his usual grace and dignity,he entered the tranquility of the passage to new life.
In January 1970, Farrell met Marguerite “Maggie” LeBoeuf in Houma, Louisiana. They fell in love and were married in Maggie’s hometown of Montegut, Louisiana on October 10, 1970. Maggie was a perfect partner for Farrell, each having a great sense of humor and zest for life. They lived in Houma for many years and eventually settled in Youngsville, Louisiana in 1993. They raised two exceptional sons and cultivated a loving and close family. They enjoyed extensive travel together and created many special vacations to include their entire family, even as it expanded over time.
In 1969, Farrell went to work in the oil and gas industry. He became a float plane pilot in his initial position with TRWMission. After a series of acquisitions, Farrell had 46 successful years with NOV Mission. Along the way, Farrell’s enormous passion for people gifted him with numerous friends across the world. He never met a stranger.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Maggie; children, Max Fletcher of Baton Rouge, LA, Neil Fletcher (Chantelle) of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Griffin Fletcher of Baton Rouge, LA, Pryce Fletcher of Baton Rouge, LA, Jordan Cantu (John) of Richmond, TX and Levi Fletcher of Richmond, TX; his sister, Merry Fletcher of Hendersonville, NC, and too many nieces, nephews and other family members to list here.
Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Melba Fletcher, sisters Bernelle Fletcher Bernard and Karen Fletcher.
