Jeanerette ~ A Liturgy of the Word will be held for Mr. Ernest J. Copp, Sr., 61, at 2:00PM, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette with Deacon Keith Duhon officiating. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:00AM, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette and continue until the time of service. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11:00AM.

Mr. Ernest J. Copp, Sr., a devoted family man and cherished friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and steadfast support for those around him. For over 20 years, Ernest was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous - Serenity, where he found his calling in sponsoring other men and walking alongside them on their journey to sobriety. His guidance, patience, and wisdom became a beacon of hope for many.

Outside of his recovery work, Ernest found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially hunting and fishing, which brought him peace and connection to nature. Above all, Ernest was a man who loved deeply. His family was his pride and joy, and his devotion to them was evident in everything he did. Ernest will be remembered not only for his quiet strength and generosity but also for the lives he helped heal along the way.

Mr. Ernest J. Copp, Sr. is survived by his mother, Octavia Derouen Copp; his son, Ernest Copp, Jr.; two daughters, Alicia Copp Borel and her husband Kenyatta, and Teasha Copp and her husband Blake Alexander, Sr.; two brothers, Dudley Copp, Jr. and Paul Copp; three sisters, Genevieve Segura, Wanda Simon and her husband Rickey, and Beth Segura and her husband Terry; five grandchildren, Cherish Copp, Brieyion Alexander, Blake Alexander, Jr., Kyanna Borel, and Ameerah Alexander; three Godchildren, Brandy St. Germain, Wendy Robinson, and Kylee Copp; his ex-wife, Annette Landry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dudley J. Copp, Sr.; his sister, Denise Segura; and his nephew, Neil Simon.

Pallbearers will be Dudley Copp, Jr., Paul Copp, Clarence Segura, Nicholas Simon, Lance Segura, and Doug Bourque.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Copp, Jr., Kenyatta Borel, Blake Alexander, Sr., and Blake Alexander, Jr.

Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost Street, 337-276-5151, will be handling the arrangements.
