Emile J. Guidry Jr., lovingly known as “Lou,” passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Morgan City, Louisiana, and later residing in Broussard, Louisiana, Lou lived a life defined by love for his family, dedication to his work, and appreciation for the simple joys in life.

In his younger years, Lou played trumpet, where he met the love of his life and lifelong soulmate, Brenda Guidry. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories that spanned many years.

Lou spent much of his career working in the oil industry, including time spent working in Alaska, the Northwest Territories of Canada, and Nigeria, before later becoming the owner of a dispatch business prior to his retirement. He was admired for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

He found great happiness in spending time outdoors and with family and friends. Lou especially enjoyed playing golf, cooking and barbecuing, fishing, and gardening. He had a deep love for animals, nature, and the peace found in the outdoors. Known for being a wonderful storyteller with an unforgettable sense of humor, Lou could light up any room with his stories, laughter, and larger-than-life personality. Whether he was preparing a meal, tending to his garden, or simply enjoying quiet moments surrounded by nature, Lou appreciated life’s simple blessings and had a gift for bringing people together.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis P. Guidry, and his father, Emile J. Guidry Sr.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Guidry; his children, Bryan and Charlene Guidry, Fay and Jason Rhymes, and Karen and Toby Walker; his sisters, Andrea Ohmer and Glyna Durio; his treasured grandchildren, Bryan, Brennan, Daniel, Ashleigh, Jacob, Lauryn, Gino, and Diamond; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Amelie, Maysen, Elliot, Brynlee, Nalaylee, Luka, Ash, and Nio.

Lou will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, warmth, humor, and love for family will remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. His legacy will live on through the many memories shared with family and friends throughout the years.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Bryan Guidry, Bryan Guidry II, Gino Guidry, Jason Rhymes, Brennan Rhymes, Toby Walker, and Mickey Granier.
