Dolores A. Alvarado

New Iberia–A Funeral Service will be conducted for Dolores A. Alvarado, age 87, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Frioux Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. Keith DeRouen, officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and resumes on Saturday, October 11, 2025, 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Born in Franklin, La and a resident of New Iberia, Dolores A. Alvarado, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Calcutta House in Lafayette.

In her younger years, Dolores was crowned Farm Bureau Queen and held first place in the state for Women’s Archery. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was actively involved with the O.L.P.H. Church Youth Council. To many of the youth she guided, she was like a second mother—affectionately known as Ms. Dee.

A highly skilled seamstress, Dolores lovingly sewed countless dresses for her four daughters. Her other hobbies she enjoyed were crocheting, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and dancing—something she truly loved.

Dolores was beautiful both inside and out. She was kind, sweet, and good-hearted. Her sense of humor and spirited nature made her unforgettable. As a nurturing and supportive mother, she taught her children how to love deeply—a legacy of love that continues to pass through each generation.

Family was the heart of her life. Dolores thrived in the company of her loved ones and was always in the spotlight at gatherings, where her presence brought joy to all. The great-grandchildren naturally gravitated toward her, drawn by her warmth. Though future gatherings will feel her absence deeply, she has left behind a lifetime of cherished memories.

She was dearly loved by many, known by names that reflected the special bonds she shared—Dolo, Mama, Mom, Dee Dee, and Ms. Dee. She touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Jodi Hebert, Jill H. Suire, Jaci Hebert, Jami Hebert, and one son, Jeff “Jay” Hebert; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick, and Bernice Gachassin Alvarado; grandson, Ryan Segura; brother, Frank Alvarado; sister, Ramona Alvarado Anderson, and her beloved 4-legged companions, Daisy and Jeep.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Lauren Hensgens, Christian Hensgens, Erin S. Rodrigue, Ryder Rodrigue, Jordy Suire, Carter Suire, Jade Migues, Briggs Migues, and Ani M. Randazzo.
