New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dawn Leah Roseberry Mestayer, 76, at Frioux Funeral Home of New Iberia on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:30AM. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:30AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Frioux Funeral Home and will continue until the time of service. A recitation of the rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters at 10:15AM.

Dawn Roseberry Mestayer of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on August 8, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1950, in New Iberia, where she remained a cherished member of the community throughout her life.

Dawn was the loving wife of Lawrence "Larry" Daigle Mestayer and the devoted mother of three children: Dr. Tanya Mestayer of Erath, Jennifer Kidd of New Iberia (wife of Joseph Kidd), and Ross Joseph Mestayer of New Iberia (husband of Jeri Maturin Mestayer). She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Holden and Sidney Kidd, and Emma and Lincoln Mestayer.

Dawn had an infectious spirit and a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She never knew a stranger and always enjoyed having a good time and sharing laughter with all she met. She treasured her special friendships, especially playing bingo with her friend Elaine and taking casino trips with her cousin, Irene. Dawn loved to bowl, drive around admiring Christmas lights, shop, and create unforgettable memories like crashing the Target scooter with her grandkids—moments filled with joy and laughter.

Dawn expressed her love through food, preparing special dishes that she knew her family would appreciate. She loved to watch the television show, Survivor and enjoyed keeping up with the news and weather. She was Rob Perillo’s biggest fan.

Dawn is survived by her sister, Bridgette Roseberry Delahoussaye (husband Dwayne), and her brother, Johnny "Bozo" Roseberry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margie Roseberry.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Dwayne Delahoussaye, Joseph Kidd, Holden Kidd, Chad Mouton, Shane Montet, and Kyle Harrington.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lincoln Mestayer and Ross Mestayer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff of Iberia Medical Center (especially Emmanuel Guidry and Caleb Lennie,) Iberia Medical Center’s ICU staff, the ICU staff of Lafayette General, and the LTAC Unit at Ochsner Extended Care Hospital for honoring their special Dawn and for showing kindness, positivity, and always being God’s hands. They are also grateful for the love of Dr. Reed, Dr. Broussard, Dr. Sigue, Dr. Dautrieve, Dr. Kitakule, and The CIS Staff (especially Ms. Lisa). The family is truly thankful for their talents and skills.
